Darla's Respite
Painting on location at Moore Farms is a real treat! This cottage sits on the lawn near Ms. Moore’s home. I loved the way the sun lit up the basket hangings and grass and then filtered through the trees to create a dappled pattern on the roof.
If you haven’t been, take the time to visit the garden. It’s Moore Farms Botanical Garden in Lake City, South Carolina. I find it absolutely breathtaking. It seems no matter where I walk or which direction I turn to look, I see the most amazing juxtaposition of height, color, depth, and texture of the trees, shrubs, grasses, and flowers. I’ve had the very good fortune to paint with friends there on several occasions, and I could hardly focus on painting for wanting to just stare at the amazing scenery. Maybe that means I’m a SC girl through and through.
