What does your art collection say?

While we can decorate a room very prettily with beautiful fabrics, colors, paint, and accessories, it is somehow lifeless without the unique inspiration that artwork brings to the room.

I love collecting art, don’t you? I paint, and yet I am still thrilled when I find that amazing artwork that speaks to my soul. It’s a real pleasure to add something new to my collection. I also remember the ones that got away, that were usually sold by the time I saw them.

Art collections are pretty unique in our lives because they consist of all one-of-a-kind items (assuming you’re collecting mostly originals). As we find art over the years, our collection reflects our personalities, out interests, places we’ve been, people we’ve been with, and our journey through life.

Over time, we set aside certain pieces, gift some to other people, and acquire new ones. We rearrange how they’re grouped together, change the rooms they live in, spruce them up with new frames, and add new pieces.

An art collection, over time, develops a deeply personal meaning to us.
